NO WALK INS AT THIS TIME
Not an artist? Or, a writer? Don’t have an ounce of talent? No problem! Art Journaling is a visual way of keeping a diary with or without words. It helps to foster and exercise our creativity (even when we don’t believe we have any). It’s virtually inexpensive, doesn’t take up too much time and – the best part! – there are NO rules! There is not a right way to do it or a wrong way to do it. The biggest problem seems to be knowing where to begin.
Art Journal Group is a place where you can work on your Art Journal in a fun and relaxing social setting. Get the guidance you need, tips on beginning and prompts for ideas. Be part of brainstorming sessions, share resources with other journalists, reflect on your inner self, play. Consider it therapy all while gently coaxing the creativity out that is buried deep inside of you.
You will need a journal. I suggest the Strathmore 140lb. Watercolor Visual Journal. However, you may wish to use a mixed media journal instead. Both are available at Hobby Lobby for about $11. There will be supplies and tools for your use but feel free to bring your own. Walk ins are welcome; reservations are appreciated.
Piney Hollow Arts Studio’s mission is to make available and accessible a place for artists to work individually, attend Arts workshops and take private or group lessons. During student Art lessons, we will help build and strengthen a strong skills foundations to include composition, value, and an attention to detail and will stress the importance of these skills in both life and all vocations.
The studio is growing! Piney Hollow is currently looking for a larger studio space to hold group classes, workshops, open studio hours, memberships, summer kids' program and more. Stay tuned for updates!
We work with students of all ages and skill levels from beginner to advanced starting with base skills such as composition, value shading and perspective drawing - all skills needed for professional aspirations or just creating for enjoyment. Our teaching method is realistic and academic in nature - much like the masters - in that we teach you how to trust your eyes to draw and paint what you see. Our teaching process is to work along side you from your individual skill level and pace. Most supplies are at your disposal however, you may be asked to invest in paper and/or canvases for projects.
